BUT he calls himself pure because the last muggle in his family was 5 generations back. He decided that saying 96.855 percent blooded, although accurate, was slightly cumbersome (and more often than not confused people).
Wand: Reed, Demiguise and Unicorn hair, 12 inches, springy
Demiguise hair(s)
Demiguise hairs were long considered to not have enough oomph to make a proper wand, but with the advent of multiple cores they have gained favor for their strength in Transfiguration and the subtle arts. When combined with a stronger wand core they make potent wands, however, on their own they can be rather one-dimensional and difficult to use for anything but Transfiguration. They have found favor in students of all Houses, although they may be slightly rarer among the open Hufflepuffs.
Unicorn hair
Unicorn hair is a more subtle wand, but it is quite compatible with Charms and Transfiguration. It is also hands-down the best core for healing, as it picks up some of the healing capabilities of unicorn blood. Unicorn hair has a reputation of picking gentler or more cerebral users, so it is common amongst Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws. More laid-back Gryffindors and subtler Slytherins may find themselves with a Unicorn hair wand.
Reed – Reed is always delicate, and a difficult wand to work with. However, its wisdom and intelligence make it sought-after by some. It is almost solely a Ravenclaw wandwood.

History
Perseus Bootes and Silvia Sewen were two people that no one expected to end up together. He was a traditionalist from a relatively well-to-do family. She was a feminist witch, who came from a family where money did not matter to them. Not to mention their ten years age difference.
However, they were in love from the first time they laid eyes on each other. He was working in a high ministry position, and she was lobbying the wizarding court for a change in laws regarding half-breeds. Perseus, despite not agreeing with her, knew that he had to meet her. Everyday he would see her, with her long flowing black hair, and bright blue eyes. He wanted nothing more in the world than to take her in his arms and hug her until she shared his undying admiration.
Little did he know that Silvia lusted after the politician with the salt and pepper hair as much as he lusted over her. It was she that got the courage to speak with him, his father would relay the story to him many times over the years. His mother had said; "I'm Silvia, let's go get lunch." That officially became their first date.
Despite their relatively different lives the two clicked on so many levels, Silvia brought out every good part of Perseus. She made Perseus think, she made him wonder, and she made him change his attitudes. They were so far in love after six months of dating that Perseus proposed.
She declined.
This rattled Perseus. Had he miss read her? Did she not love him as much as he loved her? She then reminded him that she didn't believe in the patriarchal institution of marriage. He called her a crazy bitch, and then kissed her with more passion than ever before. Eventually she did agree to get married, but she refused to take his last name. Perseus was fine with this.
Around this same time Silvia announced something groundbreaking. She was pregnant with Perseus' child. Both were thrilled, both their families did not share this excitement. Perseus' parents wondered how he could have been so careless as to get a woman (and a woman who opposed the ministry nonetheless) pregnant out of wedlock. Her parents didn't understand why she would fall for such a rigid fellow. Perseus "retired" from his position at the ministry due to the "scandal." Though, his retirement was a true blessing as Voldemort was on the brink of taking over the ministry at the time of his leaving.
The second Voldemort came into power the Senew-Bootes family went into hiding with their bastard child. They lived amongst muggles, doing minimal magic until the fall of Voldemort. Perseus was afraid that as a former Slytherin that had been in school with many other Death Eaters that they would come looking for him. Plus Silvia's ideas were not inline with those of Voldemort. After the fall of Voldemort Silvia opened a restaurant specializing in vegetarian foods for wizards. Perseus never went back to work for the ministry, and he spent a few years trying to find his "passion" (as Silvia encouraged him to do) before deciding that he was going to retire for good.
Dorado was sent to a muggle grammar school (at his mother's request), and every teacher he encountered was always baffled by the boy. He was unusually quick-witted, and quite the loner. However, what the teachers found most odd was that around him no other students ever made a sound. If they asked a student to go speak with Dorado they could not, and they could not explain why they were so mute around him. His mother and father knew this was because of his uncontrolled young magic, and when he was barely 6 they attempted to explain to him that he needed to be careful with his abilities. After that day most of the other children found themselves able to speak with him.
The young boy was extremely excited when he got his acceptance letter into Hogwarts. His father and mother had told him of the school, and the idea thrilled him. Clearly he had been exposed to magic in the house, but now he was going to be surrounded by it all the time. Magic was not like muggle "stuff." Muggle math and science were so easy, he was certain that wizarding subjects would be far harder.
His mother wanted him to be in Ravenclaw, his father in Slytherin. The sorting hat did say that Dorado had all the makings of a Slytherin; cunning, ambitious, proud. However, the sorting hat also noticed that Dorado had an uncommon will to learn, and thus he was sorted into Ravenclaw. Truth be told Dorado was extremely happy about this fact. He quickly learned that many Slytherins couldn't see how their arrogance was blinding their better judgement. Plus, he really loved answering riddles to get into the common room.
Dorado made Hogwarts his home immediately, more specifically the library. He was in there every chance he could get studying, and although all the subjects fascinated him there were three that captivated him beyond all others; Ancient runes, Arithmancy, and Astronomy. He found ancient runes to be like a giant puzzle. Arithmancy was clear and methodical. Astronomy, well he just liked that because he found out his name was actually a combination of three different constellations.
In his third year the young boy began charging for tutoring in different classes. Originally it started out with chocolates, but as the boy grew he came to accept many more things as payments. From chocolates, to money, to other favors. This was his undeniably his father's ambition shining through.
Despite having a busy "extra-curricular life" he ended up getting the scores to go onto every N.E.W.T level he wanted to; Transfiguration, ancient runes, arithmancy, Astronomy, and potions. He excelled in every single one, even though it meant rarely sleeping in his seventh year.
Immediately after leaving Hogwarts Dorado went on to begin researching ancient runes with a well respected member of the academic community. His studies took him all over the world, but he spent more time in Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Russia than anywhere else.
At 24 he decided he was bored being an assistant, and he left to begin his own research. By 26 he had published several research papers on Ancient Runes. 27 was the year he published his research novel (which he had been working on since he was 18). The next year he was invited to teach Ancient Runes at Hogwarts. He did consider saying no to the offer, he loved doing what he was doing, but ultimately he decided that shaping young minds would be a lovely possibility.
This school year is the beginning of his second year teaching at Hogwarts, where he already has quite the reputation for being brilliant, if not slightly too serious at times.
Appearance
Without a doubt Professor Bootes is the heartthrob of Hogwarts among the staff. He inherited many of his mother's features, and as she was a beautiful woman he was expected to be a beautiful boy. He did not disappoint. From the moment he arrived into the world he had the same sparkling blue eyes that seemed to understand everything around him. Not to mention his head that was already filled with chocolate colored hair. Dorado was beautiful, but that was the problem. He was beautiful. Not handsome. Beautiful.
For his first 8 years of life everyone thought that Dorado was a girl upon first meeting him. It wasn't until he hit puberty that he managed to assert himself as a man. His jaw grew firmer, and hair started to appear on his face. Originally he kept facial hair (though it was awkward and scrawny) to avoid any confusion of his gender. However, by sixth year Dorado had no need for such gimmicks. Although he was never able to shake his baby-doll eyes, the rest of his face developed into that of a "true man." He was extremely excited by this. At around the same point he started trimming his hair, and moving it away from his face. He was unstoppable.
Professor Bootes is very classic in his appearances. He always has a thin 50's style tie on with his robes, and he even wears muggle suits fairly regularly. He had a lot of exposure to the muggle world growing up, and on his travels, so he has no problem wearing muggle clothing. On occasion professor Bootes will wear a pair of thick frame black glasses, but usually he opts for contacts.
Personality
Professor Dorado Bootes is a man who loves to have intelligent conversations, be them with a student, or with a colleague. He actively seeks out opportunities to share knowledge, and as a result he publishes papers on ancient runes and gives the occasional talk or guest lecture at different schools around the wizarding world.
However, one of his fatal down-flaws is his lack of impatience with people that do not understand him. In his mind he already dumbs everything he says down to be on par with people of "normal" intellect, so he is particularly impatient when people do not get him. Although he allows his students more slack in this regard it is well known that it is a mistake to ask more than a handful of basic questions in any given time period.
Regardless, Dorado Bootes has a surprising amount of people skills when he wants them. This is less due to natural ability and more to many years of studying human interaction by watching other people. This has allowed him to become quite a player at times, and Dorado Bootes is not picky as to which team he plays for. The bedroom is one place where he's surprisingly social, probably because intelligent conversations don't have to happen there to give him some excitement.
Another rather obvious down-flaw is Dorado's complete, and total arrogance. Although he's not particularly un-agreeable in any respects he does manage to carry an air of self-satisfaction and superiority. This does not win him friends, but the few people that can push past this barrier find that Dorado makes an excellent companion.
